The Givebox - Sharing is Caring

I first read about The Givebox in an article back in October. An idea initiated by two young men from Berlin in Germany, who are only known by their first names. The Givebox is about the size of a phone booth or closet and the way it works is, that you can bring your unwanted items, that have been waiting in your basement or attic to get used again, there for others to take them and in return you can pick something for yourself. It's an anonymous trade of things that have become useless to their owners, but could be a treasure to someone else.

There are some rules attached, if you drop something off, you are asked to leave a comment about it in the guestbook and if you take something in return, you should leave a thank you note as well. If your item isn't gone within two weeks they ask for you to remove it from The Givebox.

This idea works so wonderfully (nobody emptied the whole thing only to sell it on ebay, which btw isn't allowed) that it has already spread all over Europe and I even read that someone started it in San Francisco. I haven't seen one myself, but if I find one somewhere near us, I will definitely leave something there.
