Awkward
  • When you want to go to bed at night and the next door neighbors are still outside talking and laughing so loud that it's keeping you from falling asleep, but you don't want to say anything because after all they are your neighbors and most likely will be exactly that for a long period of time and you're not keen on having a neighborly fight with them. Oh, what to do?
  • People without respect. Like above mentioned neighbors. What is it with people not teaching their children to be respectful to grown ups? I just don't get it.
  • We don't have a soda fountain at our local McDonalds (bigger cities in Europe do have them by now, we don't), so when we order our beverages we always have order with ice and a lid. Because 1. people here don't put ice into their drinks, some don't even put them in the fridge (can't even imagine) and 2. if you don't specifically ask for a lid you don't get one and without the lid the cup is super "wabbly" and it spills. Why don't they hand out lids with every beverage you ask? Well, that's simple, people here are very environmentally conscious. Each lid they don't hand out doesn't land in the garbage and doesn't have an impact on the environment. And of course it also saves money.
Awesome
  • Summer time is berry time so we are indulging in all sorts of berries around here every day! My new favorite salad I prepare for dinner is a mixed salad with feta cheese, strawberries, chopped almonds, tomatoes and an Italian vinaigrette with extra salt and pepper on top. Mmh, it's so good I have been making it for the past 3 nights. (I'll remember to take a pic next time)
  • Things are looking really good at work right now! Investors have been found and all employees will be taken over, the financial issues seem to be in the past. Thank goodness! As a result of the good news the mood at work has been wonderful again, just like it was when I started my job as an Industrial Business Management Assistant there.
  • There is a sunflower field right across the street and I cannot wait for those sunflower heads to open up so I can take lots of wonderful pictures! I will share them here!
So, anything awkward or awesome happened to you lately?

Hugs,

Oh gosh... Neighbors are tricky...You're right, you don't want to get in an argument cause you see them every single stinkin' day...Oy! And yes, I agree there's a shocking lack of respect in today's youth... It's very very very scary to me.. I mean.. I can't imagine what our future will be like if it continues...But the Bible says something about that...It says that in exact words actually. Trippy. And I think your Awkward Awesome posts are my fave..

My mom, sister, and I went to Hawaii several years ago, and if you wanted ice in your drink, you specifically had to order it that way. SO weird! :)

I can relate to the neighbor thing. We have an issue where some people who live in our building like to hang out in the backyard and make a whole bunch of noise at odd hours and it's really annoying because it means they're right outside of my windows. I can't even open my curtains because there might be strange men looking in... It's so annoying!

From what I've found, usually when you run into problems is if you use a condescending tone of voice or do something passive/aggressive, but if you're nice and straight up... Most people are happy to oblige, if not embarrassed that they disturbed you.

My neighbors are horrible. They are nightmares - so I understand.

That is so strange about soda. every place is different!

Regarding kids having respect. I am not sure but it starts early. Teach them young.

But mostly teenagers are having babies and a lot these teenagers don't have respect.
