Today we drove to Stuttgart to say good-bye to the hubby's great uncle who passed away on August 2nd. We picked up my IL's and drove all the way to Stuttgart, which is about 1,5 hours away from us, to attend his funeral.

It was a very hot day. And it was a very emotional day. We got to say good-bye to a man who was lucky to have a lot of true friends in his life, they were all there to pay their last respect to him. We were able to meet family that had also come from far away to see him off. We heard stories of his life, e.g. how he had been a soldier in WWII and how hard life was afterward. We learned how swimming became his big passion and listened to stories about his achievements.

He was 89 years old when he passed. His life had been long and fulfilled if not always easy and without struggles, but he was happy at the end of his life looking back on all he had accomplished. He was the husband to a wife, he was the father of a daughter and the grandfather to a young lady. He was the uncle to my MIL and he taught the hubs how to swim when he was a little boy.

I got to meet him a few times throughout the years that the hubs and I are now together and I will always remember him as a wonderful man. May he rest in peace where ever he may be and may he be re-united with his wife who had passed a few years ago.

Hugs,
