I have been wanting a nice pinboard for the kitchen wall for quite some time now. There are so many things that I want to have somewhere I can see them all the time. Either it be Leonie's schedule for school or appointments or even the library receipt to keep an eye on due times.
But I didn't want one of those boring cork thingy pinboards, I wanted a pretty one. I wanted to make my one of my own. I still had tons of fabric and ribbon I could use, so I browsed Pinterest a bit, to get some inspiration and off to the hardware store I went.
At the hardware store I got a plywood board and had it cut to the size I wanted. I also got some foam plastic, some bullen nails, picture hooks and a staple gun with staples. And I had all intentions of getting started right after I got home. Really! But, oh well, you know how it goes, life got in the way and all the supplies ended up in the laundry room for a week or even two - oops.
Until this morning (remember we have the day off because of the German holiday) when I jumped up after breakfast and got started. The hubs and Leonie both helped me and we all had so much fun, that we decided to make a pinboard for Leonies room as well.
First we spread out the fabric inside out on the floor and placed the foam plastic with the plywood board on top of it. I stretched the fabric over the edges and the hubs stapled it to the board.
After that I cut the ribbon into the lengths I needed and then we nailed them to the board, making sure the spaces between them were equal. We didn't attach the ribbon to the back of the board until they were all nailed to the front to avoid it from tearing because of too much tension.
Once they were all attached to the front and back of the board, the hubs attached two picture hooks to the back of the board. I wanted them to be attached so you wouldn't be able to see them once the board was on the wall.
And, voila, here it is!
I'm really happy with the way it turned out! Of course I had to add some postcards right away. Doesn't it look wonderful?
Have you done a DIY project lately?
Happy Wednesday and happy DIY-ing!
Hugs,
